I dipped into my barrel aged stash tonight. I saw this one was aged in wine barrels. So I did what any sane human being would do and sabered it with a fucking chef’s knife. I now believe every beverage tastes better when its been sabered. Bonus points for this beer being called “Escoffier” and having a fucking chef’s knife on the label.

isn’t that only supposed to be done with champagne so the bubbles blow out any glass shards?

I mean, the beer is pretty carbonated and some did shoot out....

Eh, I’ll let you know if I die by morning.

Yeah, any broken glass near my food or drink makes me not thirsty or hungry.

I once got a beer bottle, a long time ago, that must have chipped slightly at the rim when the bartender took the cap off. I cut my lip ever so slightly. Lips really bleed a lot.

Ever since then, every time I get a glass bottle of anything, I grip the opening with my hand and twist a few times. I figure a cut hand is better than a cut mouth or glass in my intestines.

(check back later for my rant about places that use metal staples to close food bags or boxes. I don’t want any fucking small sharp metal staples near my food!!! Especially when drunk and ordering Chinese)

Lastly, I do hope at some point I saber a nice bottle of champagne, but you can be sure it will be strained or filtered before I toast.

Update - no pain, no discomfort. I have decided this is acceptable for these fancy, carbonated beers. This would not be acceptable for the thinner bottled, non carbonated and non aged beers that are just.....beers in a glass bottle.
